Siobhan Davies Dance Big Dance 2010
On 10 & 11 July Big Dance 2010 in South London culminated in a weekend of free activity. Siobhan Davies Studios opened their doors for everyone to experience the range of activities available, including performances, dance and art workshops, film screenings, exhibitions and an improvisation jam with Siobhan Davies Dance artists.

Candoco is a contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers who hold regular weekly sessions for young people at Siobhan Davies Studios.
An energetic taster class emphasising flow and coordination and exploring coordination and freedom of movement.
A chance to try out Skinner Releasing Technique – the inclusive approach to dancing that focuses on releasing tension and habitual movement patterns for more free and powerful movement.

A selection of short dance films and documentaries were screened, including a new film commission by Lucy Cash and Becky Edmunds featuring South London groups.
Crafts Collective 60|40 invite a textile artist, a furniture maker and a potter to present their work.
An accumulation of playful explorations developed through a creative process with non-dance professionals over regular weekly sessions. Blusters and scurries of movement were performed responding to different spaces in and around the building.
A performance event showing the range and diversity of approaches to creating new dance work by graduating choreographers from around the country.

Families worked together to make their own visual art using the ideas of movement and the body in space as inspiration.
Led by Annie Lok and Charlie Morrisey, dance artists with Siobhan Davies Dance, participants explored improvisation as composition, and the idea of an action being completed in the moment it is created.
