Pass it on

Primary schools programme

Pass it on cascaded a creative movement workshop through 19 South London schools in Big Dance Week. 20 teachers attended a workshop at Siobhan Davies Studios, in which they received the lesson, and discussed how to adapt it for different age groups and redeliver it. They then passed it on to 200 teachers, who passed it on to 6000 children, providing everyone in each school with a creative movement experience.

Siobhan Davies Dance creative workshops reflect the choreographic methods of questioning and exploration used by the Company. This approach provides teachers with an achievable and insightful approach to delivering dance in their schools.

‘Doing the practical workshop myself helped me to cement the ideas so I could teach effectively to my class.’
Teacher from Merton Park Primary School

‘I definitely think dance could be used as a creative learning tool. The children now realise dance is not just choreographed steps put to music.’
Teacher from Sacred Heart Primary School

‘I think involving my colleagues in a physical lesson was a useful, memorable and stimulating course of action. A paper lesson plan or scheme of work could never have been so effective or immediate.’
Teacher from Charlotte Sharman Primary School

‘The children loved it as it was so different! They all wanted to do it again.’
Teacher from SS Peter & Paul Catholic School
