Pedestrian is Siobhan Davies Dance’s new dance film commission by Straybird for Big Dance 2012. Pedestrian is an innovative and playful three minute film which engages the viewer in a ‘walk’. The walk is composed of tiny fragments of movement from a diverse cast of south London people and locations cut together to give the appearance of a continuous walking movement. The film reveals the extraordinary nature of walking and the links to choreographed movement within dance.
Filming took place in March 2012 with a diverse cast of 65 south London residents.
Pedestrian will be screened in cinemas and at various events during Big Dance 2012, as part of Siobhan Davies Dance’s Cinedance programme – taking short dance films into cinemas to be screened before feature films as part of the Big Dance Festival.
