Artistic Team

Siobhan Davies – Artistic Director

Siobhan Davies, internationally renowned choreographer and artistic director of Siobhan Davies Dance, has been fully involved in the overall concept and delivery of Primary Bank.The project aims to truly reflect her working practise and share her ongoing exploration of how dance can communicate human thought and feeling.

Rachel Attfield – Creative Project Manager

Rachel trained in dance at the Laban Centre going on to perform in several small companies within London in both theatres and education settings.For the past 12 years she has been teaching, choreographing, setting up and managing creative dance and cross arts projects for young people, children and non-professional dancers.These projects have involved working with a range of professional artists and organizations including, Norfolk Dance, Essex Dance and Union Dance.

Katherine Duhigg – Project Co-ordinator

Katherine graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a BA in Dance Performance.She worked within the youth programme and health promotion at The Australian Choreographic Centre and has performed in several independent dance projects, choreographed and taught in schools and various settings. Kath is currently teaching in primary schools for arts education company Artis alongside her work for Siobhan Davies Dance.

Friars Primary School

Friars Primary School is a local primary school based in Southwark.The School’s deputy head is an Advanced Skilled Teacher specialising in Philosophy for children, a method used to develop children’s logical, critical and reflective thinking. The school has supported the project through providing training and assistance to plan this section of the project.

Sasha Roubicek – Dance artist & teacher

Sasha made her first appearance with Siobhan Davies Dance in 1994 joining later in 1999.She has performed with numerous other professional Companies. Sasha has led master classes for companies, vocational dance schools and studios throughout Europe, the USA and Russia and is a senior Aikido practitioner of Tetsushinkan Budojo.

Autumn Term: October – December 2007 Art & Dance.Their relation to the dynamics of movement.

South London Gallery

The South London Gallery presents temporary modern art collections.Each exhibition at the SLG is complemented by an extensive programme of events and workshops for schools and colleges including special previews for teachers and the provision of teacher’s packs.

Sam Collins – Visual Designer

Sam was born in Hobart, Tasmania and studied Sculpture at Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Western Australia, exhibiting in numerous group and solo exhibitions.Since moving to London in 2002, Sam has worked on a diverse range of projects with numerous artists and organizations.Sam began collaborating with Siobhan Davies Dance in 2004

Sarah Wigglesworth - Architect and Environmental Designer

Sarah Wigglesworth studied at Cambridge University, gaining her Diploma with Distinction in 1983. She set up her architectural practice in London in 1994 after working for a variety of firms, large and small, both in the UK and USA. Her work has included a broad range of building types within the new build, historic and refurbishment sectors and has extended into territory beyond architecture.Together with Jeremy Till she is the only architect to be awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in Architecture (1991) and an MBE for her services to architecture in 2003.

South Bank Centre

The Royal Festival Hall stands at the heart of Southbank Centre complex. Opened in 1951 as part of the Festival of Britain, the Hall is one of the world’s leading performance venues. As well as the auditorium, the building consists of The Clore Ballroom, Southbank Centre Shop, several places to eat and drink, and the Saison Poetry Library.The venue reopened in June 2007 after an extensive two-year refurbishment, part of our work to transform Southbank Centre

Alison Proctor – Ceramicist

Alison has been making ceramics professionally since 2000, following a studio ceramics course at the Royal Forest of Dean College in Gloucestershire. Her work is inspired by the natural landscape and in particular the sea and coastline, focusing on horizontal bands of colour. She currently works from her studio at in Fulham.

Max Eastleigh – Music Artist

Max work combines kinetic sound sculpture and music to produce a unique art form.Since the late 1960s, Max has been fascinated by the relationship of chance to music and art, and in environmental forces such as wind and water.He has exhibited his sound installations internationally, and worked closely with a wide range of artists, musicians and filmmakers.

Summer Term: April – June 2008 Creating Dance through play using the differing landscapes and terrains.

Jasmine Pasch – Freelance dance educationalist

Jasmine is the Director of phew!!! arts company, she is a versatile and experienced community dance artist, choreographer and educator. Trained as a professional dancer, teacher and counselor, Jasmine is a highly experienced movement practitioner who has worked in education, arts and health settings for the last twenty-five years.

Summer Term: June – July 2008 Installation of a live art exhibition

Imperial War Museum

The Imperial War Museum is the national museum devoted to the twentieth century up to the present day with exhibits ranging from tanks and aircraft to personal letters and ration books; films and sound recordings and some of the century’s best-known paintings.The subject is conflicts including Britain and the Commonwealth since 1914.

Pari Naderi – Photographer

Pari studied dance at Roehampton University and London Contemporary Dance School going on to perform with several professional dance companies.Pari joined Siobhan Davies Dance in June 2003.As a professional freelance photographer Pari has documented the rehearsal process for Siobhan Davies Dance latest work as well as other professional theatre companies.

Roswitha Chesher – film documentary artist

Roswitha Chesher studied dance at The Laban Centre and has been working with dance and video as a freelance film maker for over 10 years. She has made films with various companies and organisations including Protein Dance, Retina Dance Co, East London Dance, Greenwich Dance Agency and Scottish Youth Dance.

Artepreneurs

Artepreneurs is a programme based at Camberwell College of Arts where students can identify, deliver and engage on a wide variety of art projects with/for the local community. The purpose of this programme is to enhance work-related, volunteering and practice-based learning in partnership with community organizations.

Support and Evaluation

Philippa Beagley – Dance Consultant for Southwark

Philippa is a trained primary school teacher who has been working in arts and education for many years. As Dance Consultant for Southwark Education Arts team she works with teachers, artists and young people in a variety of capacities, planning, teaching, training and advising.Philippa is an Arts Award advisor and trainer and a Artsmark trainer and validator, she is currently developing the new Creative Media diploma for Southwark.

Nic Sandiland – External Evaluator

Nic is a multi-media artist working with installation, performance and film. He has made work in London, Europe and South Asia and has presented at theatres, art galleries, and unusual venues. His film work has been shown worldwide and has been regularly broadcast on UK TV (Channel 4). Nic teaches workshops on new media in dance around the World currently teaching video production at London Contemporary Dance School and at Middlesex University.
