JADE 2008 - 2010

In September 2008, Tammy Arjona was awarded the fourth JADE fellowship funded Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The fellowship provides a dancer with the opportunity and support to make the transition from dance performer to working within participation and learning. Taking place over two years Tammy will gain experience of working with a variety of groups, from primary school aged children to professional dancers. She will be exploring how she can transfer the skills and experience she gained from making and performing work with Siobhan Davies Dance to working on creative projects with the company.

Tammy Arjona - Fellow Profile

Tammy Arjona was born in Australia. She trained at the Sheila Laing Dance Centre and the Rambert Dance School. She began her career performing with the Michael Clark Company and went on to dance for various choreographers including Bunty Matthias, Jeremy James and Fin Walker. Tammy joined Siobhan Davies Dance in 2003 and danced with the Company up until the birth of her second child in 2007.

“I am thrilled to be the fourth recipient of the JADE fellowship. It is a new beginning for me and I'm really looking forward to gaining new skills and confidence in teaching within the creative learning area. It is a fantastic opportunity to broaden my experiences of teaching dance and to exchange ideas with other organisations and dance teachers. Learning how I can pass on the knowledge I've gained over the years as a dance artist is something I'm excited about and I hope to grow enormously over the next two years.” Tammy Arjona
