Points of Departure

Points of Departure
Siobhan Davies Commissions workshop
Led by Joe Moran

Points of Departure is a workshop exploring the making processes behind Siobhan Davies Commissions. Dance artist Joe Moran worked closely with the eight Siobhan Davies Commissions artists to uncover the different processes they used in the making of their work. From this he created Points of Departure, a participatory workshop for those with or without dance experience, that offers new perspectives on Siobhan Davies Commissions. The artists' processes will become points of departure for participants' own explorations during the workshop.

Informative, accessible and playful, Points of Departure is designed for dance and visual art students and for adults with no dance experience, especially those working within the creative industries.

For creative industries staff groups, the focus is on exploring creativity and considering how we relate to others in the workplace; for dance and visual art students the workshop places an emphasis on how artistic ideas can be extended through dialogue with other art forms.
