Siobhan Davies Studios hosts a series of public events in response to The Collection in conjunction with their resident company Independent Dance.
Talk
Erin Manns, Director of Exhibitions at Victoria Miro, will speak about Conrad Shawcross’ new work Slow Arc Inside a Cube III, in the context of the dance studio as well as provide an introduction to his practice.

To link the two buildings during The Collection, movement artist Simon Whitehead creates a postcard score to guide people along a route between Siobhan Davies Studios and Victoria Miro Gallery, which can be done on foot or by using public transport, during the three week exhibition. In a one-off event, Simon Whitehead will also guide participants through a process of making seed balls and take them on a walk to introduce the seed to latent spaces.

Bodies of Thought
Over three evenings Independent Dance invites respected academics to discuss British experimental dance practice and some of its key exponents. All talks will be chaired by Martin Hargreaves (Laban and Dance Theatre Journal).
- Fri 20 Mar 2009: Martin Hargreaves and Nicholas Quinn - speculate about asking questions through dance
- Fri 27 Mar 2009: Nicholas Ridout (from Queen Mary University of London) will discuss the work of Bock and Vincenzi
- Fri 3 Apr 2009: Prof Susan Melrose (from Middlesex University) will discuss the work of Rosemary Butcher
