Independent Dance (ID) is an artist-led organisation providing a responsive framework to support, sustain and stimulate dance artists in their ongoing development as professionals.
Founded in 1990 and now based at Siobhan Davies Studios, ID also works in partnership with Siobhan Davies Dance on specific projects, alongside its programme of classes, workshops, talks, festivals and more.
ID’s specialist programme seeks to foster an approach to professional development which focuses on increasing depth of knowledge. Opportunities to learn, deepen enquiry, share practice and exchange ideas take place throughout the year.
Within this context of a networked international community, dance artists are able to refine and review their knowledge, both as teachers and participants. They interrogate their current practice as well as seeking to broaden their palette through exploration of new ideas and approaches.
The classes and workshops at the core of the programme, led by internationally renowned artists, place a particular focus on movement exploration as a source for performance, improvisation and composition.
