I trained at Laban and have been London based ever since. I am currently working with Yael Flexer’s Bedlam Dance Company as a performer and teacher. I have also performed with Kerry Nicholls, Sirens Crosing and Transitions amongst others. My teaching experience has involved working for Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, London Studio Centre, GDA and The Place.
Having worked for eight years as an independent dance artist, creating, performing, teaching, I feel that right now I need to reflect. Reflect on what I do and why I do it.

Being more specific with the thought allowed for further possibilities. This was a surprise for me. My fear was to be short of ideas/images/sensations but actually it was almost the complete opposite.
A small enlightenment on day 2 – long may it continue..
Of course then the origin of the thought had to be re-discovered (breath) and allowed to inform and embody the moving. It was hard to dis-courage and be aware of the extra bits, the fluff that Joe mentioned.

The intention of the move, I found was difficult to access through the thinking and the action of the move. Intention needs to be clear and specific. As Debs mentioned, perhaps then the outcome of the move can potentially vary slighty.
I found myself over preparing to access the intention. I think I tend to rely on preparation in an attempt to embody the intention. Maybe effort, the wanting to do it right, gets in the way. The idea regarding different outcomes to the same intention should/could be an aid to conquer this – that’s my challenge.

I am feeling intimidated by the freedom of the task.
I can feel inside crying out ‘tell me what to do!’
However I am resisting the urge to storm into the task – as I often do. I am trying to create some space for thoughts and ideas to emerge. Let’s hope they do..

Having completed the 2nd week of Bank, I now find myself in a place that requires a big jump into the dark. I am clearer in understanding what I need to do, or rather what I need to try and aviod doing from habit, to generate something ‘new’ out of myself and my process. The knowing is pretty clear – it’s the doing something about it that is proving quite a challenge.

I’m not sure if ‘completedness’ is a word in the proper sense but I seem to be concerning myself quite a lot with it. Maybe ‘completion’ is more the word I’m looking for.

I’ve got to a point where I am almost scared to move, I’m being very honest. Having had another task presented to us, together with very useful feedback for Portraits, I am realising how I need to push myself further, I need to amplify my movement without loosing the richness of the thought. This feels quite a challenge as I know I can turn up the volume but the point is, can I maintain and even develop the intention in it’s true sense? I have purposefully chosen an idea for myself within this new task to explore exactly that.
