Panel discussion and performance of Venus in Furs
Alexandra Gilbert studied at the Conservatoire de Paris and graduated from the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine d'Angers-l'Esquisse in 1996. She's been highly involved with the projects of Serge Ricci in his group Cie Mi-Octobre for the past ten years and worked on different pieces with Cie Cré-Ange, and the directors Bouvier/Obadia in Compagnie L'Esquisse. In 2004 she joined Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's company. There she met Erna Omarsdöttir and Damien Jalet, with whom she developed an intense collaboration on diverse projects including Foi; Myth by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, which was shown at Sadler’s Wells in May 2008; Ofætt by Erna Omarsdöttir and Damien Jalet; Il Cielo sulla Terra by Stefano Scodanibbio; L'Image by Arthur Nauzyciel, and in the work Three Spells, which was formed by three parts: Venus in Furs, Venari and Aleko by Damien Jalet.
In parallel, she creates costumes for dance and theatre productions.
