Carsten Nicolai
Carsten Nicolai is a multi-disciplinary artist, best known for his audio-visual installations, who also performs under the pseudonym Alva Noto. As well as performing in clubs and concert halls, Nicolai also presents his audio-visual works at museums including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Centre Pompidou in Paris and Tate Modern in London. He also collaborates with artists such as Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ryoji Ikeda, Blixa Bargeld and Michael Nyman. He lives and works in Germany.
