Dance, the body and beyond:

expanding the choreographic field

Siobhan Davies Dance offers this short course to second year undergraduate degree students as part of the London College of Communication’s elective programme. It aims to offer some perspectives on choreography, both in the context of contemporary dance, as well as other artistic media.

Although choreography is most closely associated with dance as an art form, it can be found in some surprising places: on the street, in the architecture of buildings, on the written page or in the editing of a film. In this sense, it is not just a sequence of dance moves, but the construction of a legible form in order to communicate a feeling or idea.
