Siobhan Davies Studios' daring design was awarded a prestigious RIBA award in 2006. Available to hire for rehearsals, meetings and events, the building has various spaces to offer: the Roof Studio, the Research Studio, a meeting room, reception area, offices, a treatment room, as well as a kitchen and an informal relaxation space. The building is fully accessible to disabled users.
With a serene, light and airy atmosphere, the Roof Studio was carefully developed with the rehearsal process in mind. Sitting on top of the building it is an inspiring place in which to create new work. A state-of-the-art rehearsal space, it was designed first and foremost for dance and performance. It can accommodate up to 60 people for informal showings, 100 for lectures or presentations, and more for social events. The Roof Studio is equipped with a lighting rig and is also licensed for civil weddings.
The Research Studio is an alternative space that can be used to create and rehearse new movement, as well as for group work such as Yoga, Pilates, Alexander or Feldenkrais.
Both studios are equipped with Harlequin covered sprung floors, built-in sound equipment including TV, DVD and VHS players, adjustable heating with natural air flow and wi-fi internet access.
The Meeting Room holds a capacity of 14 people for board meetings (more for other layouts) and can be extended through to the adjacent Parlour for larger events. Offering full presentation facilities, a media centre, and phone and data connections, other services include refreshments and catering, and a reception area.
The treatment room offers a range of treatments and complementary therapies to dancers, performers and the local community. Click for more information.
The building also has a number of office desks available to hire. Situated in an open plan office all desks have use of a PC, a telephone and all communal utilities. Hires are available on a flexible basis for project work or longer contracts.
Aside from offering traditional rehearsal facilities our space can be hired for meetings, corporate days and social events. Working closely with our recommended event management company we can offer bespoke catering requirements for all styles of events.
