A year of activity with Charlotte Sharman Primary School exploring the themes behind Siobhan Davies Dance’s new work material / rearranged / to / be connected to classroom topics.
Working with Dance Artist Sarah Poekert pupils from 12 classes (EYFS- KS2) investigate 2 central themes within Siobhan Davies Dance’s latest work. (1) How our bodies feel as they move; considering the neuro science behind movement, and (2) how movement and materials can be rearranged to make connections as employed by art historian Aby Warburg.
‘The project brought a real change in how I view dance and assess the children’s work. I began to appreciate the children’s creativity using movement rather than assessing their technical skills.’
Rob Leyton, teacher at Charlotte Sharman Primary School.
