Human-Nature: Art, horticulture & choreography across the growing season
“We are as much natural material as plants are and it is in our nature to create with all the materials we can reach.” Siobhan Davies, Artistic Director
Siobhan Davies Dance presents a new series of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances.
From guerrilla gardening to artworks which fuse technology with organic matter, Human-Nature brings together horticulturists, artists, architects and choreographers to create new work. Drawing on the choreographic roots of Siobhan Davies Dance, the programme explores the dynamics of the relationship between people and plants.
Curated by Vicky Long (arts producer) and Alison Proctor (producer, Siobhan Davies Dance), makers have been invited to create work in synchronicity with the seasons. Working with live material, the collaborators draw attention to changes in nature which can be easily missed, or which we often only experience at a distance.
Human-Nature is part of the London Festival of Architecture 2014 and presented in association with Cityscapes, Garden Museum, The Royal Horticultural Society, The Landscape Institute, The Chelsea Fringe Festival, Elefest, Entelechy Arts and Nomad.
Human-Nature is funded by the Garfield Weston Foundation.
