Celebrate the Autumn Moon Festival with us!
In many communities this is a day of reunion and a chance to gather and mark the changing of the season with others.
Come alone, or with friends and (chosen) family – everyone is welcome! If you’ve not been to SDS before, this is a great moment to meet us and find out more about what we do.
5.30pm | Craft Workshop: Flower, Memory & Gathering
We’ll start in the late afternoon with a flower-arranging workshop led by artist and facilitator Kassy Fang with seasonal and locally gathered flowers, branches, leaves, grasses and seed pods, exploring migration and memories of seasons and time. Adults and children are invited to join, trying a few simple arranging gestures before creating our own arrangements. It will be a space to notice nature through many cultural lenses, and to share what the changing season carries with us on this special occasion of the year. We’ll end the workshop with some simple moving together, and a procession down to the courtyard with our temporary flower arrangements.
Participants are also welcome to bring natural materials or small objects from their garden, home, or another place that are meaningful to them, and share the stories, relationships or experiences connected to it.
6.30pm | Food, drinks and fire pit
As the sun begins to set and the moon shines bright we’ll get the fire pit going, put on some music and tuck into some tasty food!
Free moon cakes and fruit will be shared and we’ll be running a very reasonably priced bar with drinks sourced by ethical and independent suppliers, there will also be hot food available for purchase.
ABOUT WORKSHOP FACILITATOR KASSY FANG
Kassy is an Ikebana artist and practitioner trained in the Sogetsu School, holding a teacher’s diploma from Tokyo. Grounded in attentiveness to space, movement, and the relationship between human and more-than-human life, her practice moves across live performance and participatory workshops to explore memory, migration, and the everyday gestures through which a place becomes inhabitable.

ACCESS AND AMENITIES AT SDS
Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible, with lifts to all floors. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance. Blue Badge parking is also available nearby on West Square and Garden Row (for a full map visit the Southwark Council website). Our main door is power assisted.
Amenities include:

- Kitchen: tea and coffee making, fridge, and microwave
- Snack Bar: We have a small selection of bars, drinks and food available to buy from the front desk.
- Shops: The closest shop is Superway Supermarket on Garden Row (4 min walk), the closest supermarket is Sainsbury’s on New Kent Road (7 min walk). We also recommend the Art Cafe which serves sandwiches, jacket potatoes and meals (3 min walk).
* Our changing facilities and showers are not fully accessible. Our closest publicly available and fully accessible changing facility is at The Castle Centre, a leisure centre 0.3 miles away from the studios. You can find full details of their features here.
