UKG Cosmology | Artist Archive Event Fri 26 Jul 2024, 5pm - 9pm

An evening of performance, music and dance to mark the end of Angel Zinovieff’s Material Archive: UKG Cosmology

Delve into the ideas, movements and sounds of UKG CosmologyAngel Zinovieff’s Material Archive reflecting on the UK garage rave scene of the early 2000s.

To close this Material Archive, Angel offers a two part performance, animating and reflecting on the themes of collective memory, erasure and persistence. The performance will take the form of an experimental lecture and exhibition tour, alongside a collaborative activation of the building with artist Siin Lee. Together they will move with and through the heart space as a carrier of history and a place of potential.

Finally, a DJ set will take us through a musical archive from Larry Levans synth experiments and beginnings of house, into UK Garage and beyond. An (incomplete) electronic music history.

This exhibition is part of Artist Archive, a programme that questions what an archive can be and who gets to have one.

The micro of an individual life, into the many macros of our existence: relational, sociopolitical, our time on earth, and out into the cosmic unfathomable.
