A non-judgmental space for artists to share live performance and receive feedback. Led by Billy Gigurtsis, hosted by SDS.
Artists Dermot Farrell and Melissa Rayne will share their work at this first iteration of Crit Space.
This is a space where works in progress and finished pieces alike can be explored and meet with constructive dialogue. While these sessions are anchored by performance, we recognise and foreground the fact that contemporary practice is often interdisciplinary, and welcome works that come in many forms – from movement and sound to visual media and beyond.
What to expect
- Each session will follow the silent crit model.
- Two artists will present their work, one per hour.
- Each artist will begin by providing some brief context about their work. They will then share it through some form of live performance.
- After the performance, the artist will listen as peers engage in a facilitated discussion; a space for honest and non-judgmental responses.
- At the end of the discussion, the artist can respond.
There will be multiple, short breaks throughout the two hours.
Crit Space is led and facilitated by Billy Gigurtsis, hosted by Siobhan Davies Studios.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Billy Gigurtsis
Billy Gigurtsis is a London-based interdisciplinary choreographer and performer. His practice extends choreography beyond traditional dance boundaries, exploring it as a fundamental principle of organization and relation across systems. Rooted in expressionist traditions like Butoh and Tanztheater, his durational performances and technology-integrated works investigate how complex systems emerge and interact. A graduate of NEXT Choreography, Billy has presented work across the UK, including Riposte and Siobhan Davies Studios, and performed internationally as a Candoco Dance Artist.
