EMOTION Reunion + Screening  Fri 10 Oct 2025, 6pm - 8.30pm

Join us to return to EMOTION, the community performance that took place at dawn.

Did you take part in the extraordinary performance project EMOTION? Maybe you wanted to but couldn’t, perhaps you missed the 4am show, or maybe you’re just interested in what it was all about.

This relaxed get-together, with drinks and nibbles, is a chance for participants, audience and staff to catch up, and re-live an incredible dawn experience.

We’ll be screening the documentation of the EMOTION Performance, captured by Kaas Aziz and edited by Maya Yoncali, as well as sharing behind-the-scenes footage and photography from across this four-year project. The screening will begin at 6.30pm.

WHAT WAS EMOTION?

EMOTION brought performers and audience together at 4am to refresh the experience of performance as a communal act: an encounter beyond commodity.

EMOTION was the fourth in our rotating series of performance projects – LANGUAGE, POWER, FEAR, EMOTION – each offering a series of free workshops leading to an incredible sell-out performance.

To create EMOTION participants from our communities joined artists Annie Pui Ling Lok, Juan Ayala, Moyra Cecilia Silva Rodriguez, Sasha Mahfouz Shadid and Andreas Levisianos over eight workshops. We had been asking ourselves why we perform, for who and to what end? And instead of finding answers we find ourselves embracing performance as a ceremony, a ritual, a communion. The show was a triptych of a lifetime: birth, life, and death. A frame that resonates with all of us no matter how short or long it lasts.

Audiences on EMOTION…

“Unique and refreshing. A diverse coming together that gives hope in difficult times.”

“Beautiful and very moving. The artistic vision and the sound art were amazing.”

“I loved how human it felt and the dedication from the performers.”
