Our first Fundraiser Disco was in support of the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Palestine. We’re continuing to accept donations until the end of 2024.
We’re raising funds to support the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center, a leading Palestinian arts and culture organisation based in Ramallah. Since 1996, the KSCC has gained a reputation for celebrating art’s capacity to question and explore alternative ways of thinking, perceiving and viewing. Annie and Kat have long been inspired by the KSCC, and the concept of the ‘Total Work of the Cultural Institution’ was cited in their original vision for SDS in 2020 and has remained a touchstone since.
As well as being the final event of the year, this was also a chance to say “goodbye” to the beautiful Roof Studio floor after almost 18 years of sweating, rolling, and throwing shapes ahead of its replacement over the winter break (find out more about that here). Massive thank you to sensational comperes Ezi and Roly of the Freestylers for their incredible, infectious energy, stellar performance and gorgeous costumes.
“Our work fosters a vibrant and nurturing community, promoting dialogue, exchange, and experimentation.
Your generous contributions would directly support these efforts, enabling us to continue enriching our community and advancing our mission in Palestine.
It’s very heartwarming to see that we have friends abroad who are willing to support us when many of the usual donors are withdrawing from Palestine or adding conditions that limit our freedom of expression.”
