Join us for the celebratory performance of POWER.
We have invited Elephant and Castle locals to join us for two weeks of workshops. The theme is POWER – power in numbers, collaboration and community.
It’s been an opportunity to move, make and get to know each other – and we want to share some of this with you. Expect performance, and post-show food, drink and chit-chat!
POWER is the second of four performance projects – LANGUAGE, POWER, FEAR, EMOTION – made in Elephant and Castle. Read about last year’s celebratory project LANGUAGE here.

The performance
POWER will be co-created with local participants over eight sessions in the two weeks leading up to the performance. It’s going to be an open, exciting and collaborative process, and there are questions we don’t know the answer to yet. What we can say is: it will start at 4pm, finish by 6pm latest, and that audiences will be free to come and go throughout.
POWER will be made by people of all ages, and audiences of all ages are welcome to attend.
The project
Participants will have joined our Co-Artistic Director Annie Pui Ling Lok, plus artists Juan Ayala, Jia-Yu Corti and Nathaniel Parchment to try out different movement practices influenced by; Tai Chi, Japanese Butoh, Western Contemporary, somatic dance, improvisation, and social dances such as line-dancing, ballroom and jive.
POWER Workshops start on Tuesday 30 May. If you want to join us, find out more here.
“I love the values that permeate this project – joy, community, inclusion and how dance is such an amazing facilitator to imbue a space and neighbourhood with that!”
“What an amazing surprise. It gave me goose bumps. The energy was infectious, and everyone gave 100%.”
