POWER Reunion  Fri 15 Sep 2023, 5pm – 9pm

Look back on this summer’s POWER project and hear about FEAR, coming in 2024.

Did you take part in the celebratory performance project POWER? Maybe you wanted to but couldn’t, perhaps you missed the show, or maybe you’re just interested in what it was all about.

This relaxed get-together, with drinks and nibbles, is a chance for participants, audience and staff to catch up, and for anyone curious to hear about next year’s project FEAR.

We’ll be screening the film of the POWER Performance – the whole 2 hours! – as well as sharing behind the scenes footage and photography from across the project. The screening will begin at 6pm.

What was POWER?

POWER was the culmination of 2 weeks of workshops at Siobhan Davies Studios, taking place in late May and early June 2023. Each performer took part in up to 8 workshops and the performance day was the first time we all came together! For many this was their first experience of performing in front of an audience.

POWER was directed by SDS Co-Artistic Director Annie Pui Ling Lok, Juan Ayala, Nathaniel Parchment and Jia-Yu Corti, and performed by 53 people with ties to the Elephant and Castle area and members of the SDS team. Together we explored the themes of power in numbers and community through movement influenced by Tai Chi, peking opera, contemporary dance, somatics, improvisation, line-dancing, latin ballroom and jive.
