Man Up 2024 finalist and wild card – GAY GORDON is returning. Dawn your boldest tartan attire and throw your best dance moves at his big queer cèilidh. Expect Cher Lloyd by Cher Lloyd, do-si-do to SOPHIE and absolute queer chaos. Be prepared to unleash your most daring dance moves to the brattiest of pop bangers and please kindly leave your gender roles and inhibitions at home.
Everyone is invited to this completely un-exclusive party. Come alone, or with friends and family. Don’t worry if you’ve never been to a cèilidh (a traditional Scottish and Irish social dance) before, Gay Gordon will show us what to do. There’ll also be time to just boogie. Throughout we’ll be running a reasonably priced bar, plus there’ll be snacks to share.
Gay Gordon aims to make his ceilidhs as inclusive as possible and cater to a range of needs. There will be a quiet space, ear defenders, different options for hand grips and ways to take part in each dance, contact and contactless. ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Gay Gordon / Jay Yule
Jay Yule works as a dance performer, clown and maker. They work regularly with artists Jo Fong, Marisa Carnesky, J Neve Harrington, Sarah Blanc and Sarah Fahie as well as Theo Clinkard, Heidi Rustgaard and Luca Silvestrini in a variety of venues from the Royal Opera House mainstage to the sticky floors of the Dalston queer club circuit. They have performed throughout the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands and in disciplines across clowning, puppetry, drag and immersive theatre. Their practice is existential in nature and draws from the experience of being queer and non-binary. Jay tries to foster an inclusivity into the way they create, making art which can be viewed by anyone with the hope of imparting a sense of activism from watching.
ACCESS AND AMENITIES AT SDS
Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible, with lifts to all floors. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance. Blue Badge parking is also available nearby on West Square and Garden Row (for a full map visit the Southwark Council website). Our main door is power assisted.

- Shops: The closest shop is Superway Supermarket on Garden Row (4 min walk), the closest supermarket is Sainsbury’s on New Kent Road (7 min walk). We also recommend the Art Cafe which serves sandwiches, jacket potatoes and meals (3 min walk).
