An exploration of personal and collective histories from the UK garage rave scene of the early 2000’s, from Angel Zinovieff.
This Material Archive brings together a collection of works made between 2014 and 2023. Reflecting on sonic, choreographic and social histories of the UK garage rave scene, it maps themes such as joy in collective movement, transcendence, madness, the power of the imagination and the division of time. Weaving both deeply personal and collective experiences, the work encompasses archival materials, video work, music and text.
This exhibition is part of Artist Archive, a programme that questions what an archive can be and who gets to have one.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Angel Zinovieff
Angel Zinovieff is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance, film, music, collage, and writing. Their work is interested in social spheres, spheres of time, the body and it’s inheritances. The micro of an individual life, into the many macros of our existence: relational, sociopolitical, our time on earth, and out into the cosmic unfathomable.
ACCESS AND AMENITIES AT SDS
Siobhan Davies Studios is mostly accessible, with lifts to all floors. There are two accessible parking spaces available on site which can be booked in advance. Blue Badge parking is also available nearby on West Square and Garden Row (for a full map visit the Southwark Council website). Our main door is power assisted.

- Snack Bar: We have a small selection of bars, drinks and food available to buy from the front desk.
- Shops: The closest shop is Superway Supermarket on Garden Row (4 min walk), the closest supermarket is Sainsbury’s on New Kent Road (7 min walk). We also recommend the Art Cafe which serves sandwiches, jacket potatoes and meals (3 min walk).
