Siobhan Davies will be closed for maintenance from the 5 - 30 August. See you in September!

Workshop with Annie Sat 6 Dec – Sun 7 Dec 2025, 12.30 - 5.30pm

Our annual offer to join SDS Co-Artistic Director Annie Pui Ling Lok in the studio returns.

This year Annie invites you to go on a personal journey into your practice while sharing space and processes with others. Taking as a starting point Annie’s own questions around:

  • What desires related to my practice do I want to give time to (but have had little opportunity to)?
  • What habits or processes do I want to examine, strengthen or get rid of?
  • What is my practice, and do I even have one at the moment/anymore?

Bring an openness to share, to be kind and courageous for yourself and others and a willingness to see and be seen. Bring your doubts or certainties around your current/past/future practice: ‘I don’t know if I want to/can’; ‘I know I definitely want to/don’t want to’ etc...

The workshop will combine elements of Annie’s work – performance, choreography, contact improvisation, and biodynamic craniosacral therapy.

This workshop is for dance artists and practitioners whose work centres movement and the body.

Each day will be split into two sessions:

Move/dance:   Annie will provide invitations to support you to arrive in your body and enter in deep conversation with your dancing by observing physical sensations and noticing choice, agency, and desire as we move. Consensual touch is also invited.

Make/research/play: Whether you feel deeply immersed in or deeply out of touch with your practice, this part of the day brings your research into co-working and collaboration with others. Annie will provide light but clear frames to explore and dig into personal research questions, doubts and certainties.

There will be a 45 min lunch break.

previous feedback

‘’ I found that through the engagement with the scores Annie gave us I felt energised and could engage with the movement score for 2 hours without even realising it… I’m in love with the availability that my body achieves after a session of Annie’s work. She’s the best!”

“It’s my second December workshop with Annie and I find them really important landmarks at the year’s end, to refill after a year of working and output as an artist. A chance to have something just for me. It’s literally one of a few things that keeps me from burning out as an artist/human. More please.”
