The objective of the Board of Trustees is to provide wide-ranging guidance and support to the organisation, using collective experience and expertise to help successfully deliver our programme of work.
SDS is looking for keen, imaginative people to join our board of trustees; people with a range of lived experiences who reflect our diverse community. Applications from candidates who identify as disabled and POGM are particularly welcome.

Who can Apply?
A Trustee will be:
- Enthusiastic about the work of SDS
- Able to commit time and energy to the role
- Keen to collaborate
- Excited about making positive and lasting change
- Knowledgeable about the arts and/or communities with which we work
- Knowledgeable of communities underrepresented in the arts and culture sector.
What does it involve?
- We encourage a commitment of around 5 days per year to include preparation and attendance at meetings and Away Days, advice giving and attendance at events.
- We have four evening meetings and one Away Day each year. Upcoming meetings: 17 September and 26 November at 5pm at Siobhan Davies Studios.
- Appointment is for a three-year term, renewable upon re-election.
- This is a voluntary, unpaid, position, but we can reimburse expenses to help you to attend meetings (e.g travel), as well as make contributions towards access costs.
Access
Access should not be a barrier to joining our board. Please let us know if you would like to receive an Access Pack or to discuss arrangements to ensure you are able to get the most out of being a trustee.

Your expression of interest can take the form of a short piece of writing, an audio/video note, or you can have a chat with someone on our team who will log your interest.
We want to hear about you, why you would like to be involved with SDS, and how you can help us with our work. We suggest that written text is no longer than a side of A4 and audio/video of around 4 minutes.
Following the expression of interest, we may ask you to submit a CV, we will also arrange a time for you to meet our Nominations Committee (trustees Peter Barker and Suba Subramaniam), and invite you to visit the team at the studios.
