Late in September 2023 there was a leak at Siobhan Davies Studios due to heavy rainfall, causing damage throughout the building. The Research Studio was significantly impacted and is currently unusable. Thankfully though, we have been able to keep the Roof Studio open, with classes and events going ahead safely.
We’re relieved to say that a new dance floor will be installed in the Research this December and in the Roof Studio later in the year (updated in December 2023). The work is due to be completed for our January reopening after the holidays. We look forward to welcoming users back to use the full extent of our spaces in the new year.
We are grateful for the work of Harlequin Floors and to Arts Council England for their continued support. We’d also like to thank the team at Brixton House and Charlotte Sharman Primary School for generously rehousing several private hire events and independently run classes that couldn’t take place in our building. To those impacted by cancellations – artists, students, teachers, our consortium partners Independent Dance – a heartfelt thank you for your understanding and patience.
Finally, a massive shout out to the whole SDS team who have managed four events, supported relocations and emptied water buckets, seeing us through the last few weeks with warmth and resolve.
December Update: Due to issues with sourcing materials, our new Roof Studio floor will be installed later in the year.
