Our Autumn season is well underway and there’s plenty more to come…
NEXT Choreography kicked off with inspiring sessions from SERAFINE 1369 and Sasha Shadid. Plus! The cohort joined us for an electrifying, poignant and political sharing from Freestylers. Our new Unscary Saturdays series of inclusive dance classes began with “a super satisfying, free flowing and joyous afternoon” and the FEAR Reunion was a lush gathering of familiar faces and new friends – watch the new video celebrating FEAR here.
Next – tomorrow in fact – we’re hosting Artist Archive Day. Join us to chew over the key question of the project: ‘what can an archive be and who gets to have one?’. Then, in November we welcome back NEUROLIVE to the building for a fourth and final commission bringing science and dance together, created by Matthias Sperling and collaborators. More on that just below.
In funding news – a massive thank you to Southwark Council who have awarded SDS two small grants, one to improve the courtyard and another to make SDS’ activity more representative of the demographics of the borough. More on this activity in the coming months.
Finally – this September we welcomed Natalie Garrett Brown as our new Chair. Natalie is a researcher, and dance practitioner and will bring a depth of leadership experience and knowledge to role. Then – this week Christina Gazelidis join us as our new Operations Manager, she joins us from The Kings Head Theatre. Welcome to the SDS team Natalie and Christina!
