Amy Bell is a Brighton based dance artist whose work embraces performing, making, teaching, writing, dramaturgy and curation. Her theatre solo The Forecast takes an ironic look at identity in flux and her installation piece TOMBO(Y)LA investigates unruly gender embodiments. Amy’s performance work comprises theatrical, installation and site-sensitive projects for a range of artists in the UK and Italy, including Tino Sehgal, Hussein Chayalan & Damien Jalet, Lea Anderson, Maresa von Stockert, Charlotte Spencer, Alessandro Sciarroni and Chiara Frigo. She has curated Splayed, a festival of disruptive femininities at The Place, as well as experimental events for Rambert in and Yorkshire Dance. Amy is an Associate Artist on The Place’s Work Place scheme and was a Sadler’s Wells Summer University Artist 2010-14, a ChoreoRoam Artist 2012 and was the writer for Performing Gender, a commissioning project around gender and sexuality in gallery spaces in Croatia, Italy, The Netherlands and Spain 2013-15. Amy has facilitated the Next Choreography course at Siobhan Davies Dance since 2016 and has lectured in choreography at London Contemporary Dance School and Northern School of Contemporary Dance and she regularly leads creative workshops for artists, students and those keen to experiment with dance and dance making in the UK and abroad.
