Our lift is now working!

Town Square

We want our building and its spaces to be a communal resource, a town square in which our extended communities might gather, create and connect. Our Town Square offer is made up Studio, Co-working, Chats and Listening Circle spaces.

When? All our Town Square activities take place on Fridays throughout the month.

What does it cost? Find out more about costs and our local fundraising project here.

What do you think? If you have any thoughts to share on our Town Square offer, or your experience following a session, we want to hear them. Please get in touch with us via contact@siobhandavies.com.

Town Square: Studio

Use our studio space for free/low cost. Town Square: Studio is open fortnightly on Fridays, for movers and dance artists to practice side-by-side. This is as much a space for working alone, as it is for small groups and those looking to collaborate.

Town Square: Co-Working

Town Square: Co-working is a space to work along side others, quietly or in collaboration: sharing skills, experiences and perspectives. Come and get stuck into your admin and organising: draft applications, budgets, plans, emails etc. It takes place in our Library for three hours once a week.

Town Square: Chats

Share (in)expertise and experience. Town Square: Chats are for dance artists, art workers and SDS staff to unpack the questions of how to continue making and moving. Sessions happen every other month and focus on topics specific to artistic practice, with space to share skills, strategies and reflections.

Town Square: Listening Circles

A facilitated space to come together to listen and be heard. These confidential spaces encourage communities to reflect, co-exist, connect, build empathy and understand each other. We aim for equity in the space, trusting and co-holding the process, facilitated by Co-artistic director Kat Bridge.

Costs and Fundraising for local charities

All of our Town Square activities are offered with free booking options. Only Town Square: Studio has a general ticket of £5 (as well as a free bursary and £10 pay-it-forward options) as hiring the studio is our primary way of generating funds to sustain our activity.

As part of Town Square, we encourage bookers to donate to a selected local charity. These charities are chosen to reflect our values and ways of working. Town Square users are invited to donate to the charity directly, if they feel they are able. This season we will be raising money for Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS) who provide a range of services to promote general wellbeing, health and education among asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in South London. You can find out more about them and the work they do here: sdcas.org.uk.
