Siobhan Davies Dance is offering dance artists and curators the opportunity to be part of a mentorship programme.
The programme aims to build understanding of how performance can be seen in galleries and institutions, fostering relationships that encourage confidence and understanding of dance as an art form. Over a period of 12 months, the dance artists are paired with curators to meet at least four times. In addition they are offered support from the programme director at Siobhan Davies Dance. The parties are each mentor and mentee - both with knowledge to impart to the other, and open to feedback.
For the third year of the programme we are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are familiar with the themes of our EU partnership project, Dancing Museums, and are interested in discussing the challenges of dance within collection focused gallery and museum spaces.
Each selected participant is provided with a fund that may be used in any way that they feel will benefit their proposed learning outcome. Support is also be offered by Siobhan Davies and the Programme Director, and if appropriate studio space can be made available.
Applications for June 2016–May 2017 programme close Tuesday 3 May, 12 noon.
