Global Drifts is a video installation set in the foyer of the Siobhan Davies Studio, allowing people to play with video images of their own improvised movements and see them projected onto a film screen. At specific times participants have the chance to interact live with dancers performing at the performance event Accented Body in Brisbane, Australia through a video portal link. A rare opportunity to dance in Brisbane and London at the same time!
15th July 9.30am–12noon
Previous Siobhan Davies Bank dancer Annie Lok and her collaborator Lalitaraja lead a movement Jam around the building. Starting in the Studio’s foyer, they will work with the Global Drifts installation, experimenting with movement on film. They will also be working on their own new material in the Research Space. People are welcome to watch or join in.
15th July 11.30–1.30pm
London Contact Improvisation host their regular dance class in the Siobhan Davies Studios for one day only as part of the Big Dance celebrations. Teacher Rick Nodine works with participants on building trust with their dance partner, to encourage them to dance with risk and humour.
15th July 1.30-3.30pm
Following the class dancers have the opportunity to take part in a movement Jam in the glorious Roof Studio and around the building. The Jam is an unstructured open arena for people to explore contact improvisation with others. Live music will be improvised to interact with the dancing. It’s an opportunity for people to watch and participate.
