Apply to be part of Next Choreography 2015—16, a yearlong course by Siobhan Davies Dance for 14—21 year olds interested in exploring choreography across the worlds of dance, film, visual arts, architecture, theatre and the written word. Participants will learn different approaches to creating their own work and take part in the annual Next Choreography Festival at the end of the course.
During the course participants meet with a diverse range of artists and makers, and attend performances, events and exhibitions to explore how different art forms are connected through choreography. Guided by the Artist Facilitator, Charlotte Spencer, participants have time in the studio to explore different choreographic approaches. Sessions will also be led by guest artists including Siobhan Davies.
Towards the end of the course, participants are encouraged to co-curate the Next Choreography Festival by presenting work and selecting previous guest artists to return. The Next Choreography Festival is designed to share a little of the course with other young people interested in choreography.
Who should apply for the course?
Anyone aged 14—21 who is interested in making their own work. Participants do not need to have dance training but should be keen to explore choreography from different perspectives.
What are the dates and cost of the course?
The course begins in mid-September 2015 until July 2016. Sessions will be on Thursday evenings during term time at Siobhan Davies Studios. Course fees are £75 for the year, this is inclusive of all trips and excursions.
