ROTOR is an ensemble of performances, sound, installations and artworks.
Following The Collection, presented in 2009 at Victoria Miro Gallery and Ikon Eastside, Siobhan Davies extended her connections with other disciplines and commissioned nine artists to make, in their own artform, work based on ideas generated by dance and choreography.
‘ROTOR is a welcome spin on the tried-and-tested dance experience’ Keith Watson, Metro UK
‘As the choreography accelerates, the dancers break rank, varying their speeds, spinning out on individual trajectories so that a beautifully controlled chaos ensues, like flocking birds.’ Judith Mackrell, The Guardian
‘Here the dancers are not 'guests' - added value to a visual art exhibition...they are the starting point. The other disiplines radiate from this centre.’ Coline Millard, Art Monthly
‘ROTOR is exhilarating, offered with the finesse that always marks Davies’ work. Stimulating and worthwhile.’ Financial Times, Clement Crisp
‘It’s like watching a schematic solar system grow dense with detail: comet swerves, vortices of energy, the tug of different gravities.’ Sanjoy Roy, New Statesman
‘The creations of the British choreographer Siobhan Davies have always been marked by an intense thoughtfulness, an interest not only in movement itself but in the ideas it can spark...ROTOR, is a physical picture of that impulse.’ Daily Telegraph, Sarah Crompton
