What is the dancer’s experience immediately after a performance?
Witness the often unseen, unheard experience of a dancer that has just finished performing. A group of dancers perform a choreographic score then stay in the studio with the audience as they recover and discuss how they feel. Rather than reflecting on the choreography, the dancers will focus on their immediate physical and emotional narrative.
You are invited to ask questions and initiate discussions to gain insight into this usually private, post-performance period.
Convened by dancer Katye Coe, this event highlights part of an artist’s experience which is rarely articulated in public, or valued in the same way as live performance.
Dancers: Stephanie McMann, Sam Kennedy, Rosalie Wahlfrid, Helka Kaski, Alexander Standard
Collaborating Choreographer: Patricia Okenwa
Katye Coe is Siobhan Davies Dance’s 2018/19 Torchlight Artist. The programme supports dance artists and choreographers to deepen and expand their research. We offer artists a year to investigate a significant topic, theme or question of urgency to their practice by offering space, time and resource. Read more about our Torchlight Artist Programme HERE.
