At this Very Serious Performance (Equinox Ritual)
You WILL explode,
In incandescent curiosity,
Dance will not exist,
Except as a communal act (undressing)
You, distanced siblings, will go hmmmm
As you forget everything you know (KO),
As we invent it for ourselves.
The silly beings (you) will be glued to the other silly beings (us)
And you might go (Oh!)

About NEXT Choreography
NEXT Choreography is a 6-month course for 18–25 year olds seeking to experiment with dance and choreography. It’s a space to question, challenge and nurture different ways of making.
NEXT is held by SDS’ Co-Artistic Directors Annie Pui Ling Lok and Kat Bridge with producers Nancy May Roberts and Sophie Brassard. The 26 participants have worked with artists Freestylers, Sasha Mahfouz Shadid, Nathaniel Parchment, Annie Hanauer, emilyn claid, Angela Andrew, Jules Cunningham, Akeim Toussaint-Buck, Juen Yuen Ting and Wet Mess.
Applications for NEXT Choreography 2026/27 will open in Summer 2026. Sign up to our mailing list to receive updates.
