In this newsletter we’re announcing our Summer programme – but before then (tomorrow!) we have our Spring Disco. Join us to boogie with the wonderful Bollyqueer. There’re also two workshops coming up soon: join Laura Doehler to delve into creating choreography this Sunday, then return to the studio with our Co-Artistic Director Annie Pui Ling Lok in May to explore permission in and out of contact.
Heading into summer marks the launch of EMOTION – the much anticipated fourth part of our rotating series of community performance projects: LANGUAGE POWER FEAR EMOTION. Before that, NEUROLIVE comes to close with a 5-day workshop and 3-day symposium, together offering a retrospective on the last 5 incredible years of this dance science project.
It’s been two weeks since Siobhan Davies Studios was packed out for NEXT 2025 (photos above!)for an exhilarating and inspiring weekend. A massive congratulations to the NEXT Choreography 24/25 cohort and warm thanks to everyone who came. In the lead up to the festival Dance Art Journal joined us to produce a rehearsal reflection – “it was energising to be present amongst such passionate individuals, untangling esoteric knowledge” – and an interview with NEXT-ers Rese, Lena and Maxi reflecting on their growth through the programme.
Throughout all this, our regular offers continue with dance classes for adults and children weekly with Creative Contemporary and monthly Unscary Saturdays, Freestylers’ inclusive sessions and Town Square and Space for Action providing space to move, meet, rest, and collaborate.
Finally – thank you to everyone who has taken the time to act on our recent emails about the devastating proposed closure of our neighbouring Charlotte Sharman Primary School. The council consultation has now closed, but please sign the petition, which is still open. You can read our full statement on the closure here.
