In 2021, Su Mano Amiga and Siobhan Davies Studios ran a collaborative series of workshops, as part of the Both/And programme.
Offering a relaxed environment and centring the needs of participants, these sessions held space for Su Mano Amiga members to come together in movement after a year and a half of remote contact. An invitation to move, breath, stretch, align and create.
The workshops offered an embodied intervention to run alongside Su Mano Amigas’ already existing crisis response, advocacy, and outreach work with their client group — engaging with dance as a tool for regulation and stress reduction, body image and self-esteem. Participants created dance and movement in response to the ideas, topics, and thematic stimuli that they brought to the workshop, using improvisation, structured movement and creative tasks.
These sessions were facilitated in Spanish and English and led by an expert Dance Artist Facilitator, with support from the Su Mano Amiga and Siobhan Davies Studios teams.
