Town Square: Chats

Town Square: Chats are for dance artists, art workers and SDS staff to get stuck into the “how” of continuing making and moving. Conversational sessions happen every other month and focus on topics specific to artistic practice, with space to share skills, strategies and reflections.

This is a space for co-facilitation and exchange amongst the group. SDS staff are here to welcome and contribute, not to lead or direct the discussion. Maybe we’ll figure some things out together – we don’t have all the answers but we do have tea, biscuits and a warm room.

The aim is for this conversation to develop organically, with future topics arising from the chats themselves or community suggestions. To propose a topic message us on socials, email us on contact@siobhandavies.com or give us a ring on +44 (0)20 7091 9650.

Next Town Square: Chats

12 July: Care | Book
– How do you care for yourself and others working in the arts?
– Can dance be a form of care?
– How do you balance taking care of yourself and making work?
– How can we all (organisations and individuals) take better care?

Our Town Square offer is made up Studio, Co-working, Chat and Listening Circle spaces. Find out about each strand here.

Town Square: Chats happen on Fridays, 12.30 – 1.30pm, twice a season. Please book a place in advance.

This is a free activity but you are invited to donate to a local charity when you book. This season we are raising money for Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers.

We want this space to be available to those who are going to use it. If you have booked a place at Town Square: Chats but can no longer make it, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can make your space available to others.

Fundraising for local charities

As part of Town Square, we encourage bookers to donate to a selected local charity. These charities are chosen to reflect our values and ways of working. Town Square users are invited to donate to the charity directly, if they feel they are able. This season we will be raising money for Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS) who provide a range of services to promote general wellbeing, health and education among asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in South London. You can find out more about them and the work they do here: sdcas.org.uk.

Tell us what you think
